What Should You Do When Your Child Gets Burn

We all agree that children are notorious, and it is very important to keep them away and safe from elements like fire. But even then, many a times, accidentally they come in contact with fire and get in trouble. Well, this can be very risky. So, it is the responsibility of us elders to stay vigilant and alert when children are around.

Well burns are a vast topic to be covered. However, today we can help you with the synopsis of first aid to be provided to children when they get burns. To get complete and correct knowledge about the same it is important to enroll and participate in a first aid or first aid refresher course. There are many of these made easily available in Sunshine Coast.

Now coming back to the first aid for child burns.
There are three types of burns –
· First Degree
· Second Degree
· Third Degree
It is necessary to handle each with full knowledge and precision. Remember, if the burns happen to cover about 10% or more, do not delay in calling for medical help. Do it as early as possible.

Other than this the basic first aid that can be given is as follows –

#1 – Soak the Burn
· Put the affected area in cool water, or under the faucet. Remember not cold water. This can be done for about 5 to 15 minutes
· Do not use Ice
#2 – Clothing
· Remember if the cloth is stuck to the burns wound, do not peel it. Let it be the way it is. You can cut the cloth around it.
#3 – Cover the Burn
· Make use of clean cloth or a sterile non-stick gauze to cover the burn
· If the burn looks mild, you can use an antibiotic ointment

These are a few things that can be done, until medical help arrives.
